Introduction

In this WebQuest, you will use internet resources  to learn a little about yourself. Each of them is a specific way that humans have invented to explore who they are. Some are serious, and some are silly!

Task

Choose at least four of the activities that appeal to you. (Your choices will already say something about who you are!)  At the end of the project, you will choose how you are going to present what you have learned.  You will not be required to share any information that you choose not to.  Have fun learning a little bit more about yourself.

Activity 1: The Day I Was Born

Click on the link to find out what Historic Events & Birth dates that occurred on your birthday. 

When you see the table, enter your birth date.

Choose somebody or an event from the list that you find interesting.

Activity 2: What's in a Name?

Find out what your First Name means, go to:

If you still haven't found your name, try typing it into WORD in your language and then clicking on Tools > Language > Dictionary.

Find out what your  Last (family) Name means. Go to:

A Fun exercise:
How about giving yourself a secret identity? Would you live to give yourself another name to suit your personality?    Choose one from the sites above, or go to Hong Kong Monikers. When you have chosen one, see if any of your friends can guess it!

Activity 3: My Personality

This is a simple version of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. It's an extremely popular test. Make sure you write down your "type" at the end! Read the directions carefully! (And ask your teachers what their 'type' is..)

There are all kinds of interesting ways to think about your personality. Take this quick and easy test. Record (copy) the results. Do you agree with them? What do you think of this way of testing someone's personality?

Activity 4: Right-brained or Left-brained

Are you left-handed or right-handed? Did you know that people can also be left-brained or right-brained? See, your brain is divided into two halves. One half is responsible for some things, and the other half is responsible for other things. Scientists have found that some people use their left side more, and others their right side. Take this simple test to see which side dominates your way of thinking! Important: Try not to think too much about each question. Just read it and choose the first answer that seems right. Record your results

                Activity 5: How do I learn?

How do you learn? Everyone learns in different ways. Here is a quiz that may help you understand how you learn. Important: When taking this test, answer the questions as if you are the "child."

Activity 6:  My Horoscope
 

What's your sign? Of course, horoscopes are just for fun, but check out yours anyway. Does it seem to match your personality?

                Activity 7: My Career?

Things to think about -  asks you to really think about the types of careers that you will be suited for.

Kingdomality lets you discover what your career would be if you lived in the middle ages.

Evaluation & Conclusion

Did you learn something new about yourself today? Find a partner and compare your results. Talk about these questions:

bulletDo my closest friends get similar results, or are our results different?
bulletWhich tests seemed to match my personality? Which didn't?
bulletWhich tests can we trust, and which are just for fun?
bulletDid you learn any information that might be useful in the future?

Together, with your partner, you need to choose how you are going to present what you have learned.  You don't have to reveal any personal information if you choose not to.
